Can a puppy learn to sit in one minute? Let's find out! Tiny seeds and ocean dreams, paint and puppies, tasty things! Wonder it! Draw it! Know it, whoo! Juno Blooms! And so can you! Big school! Today is Petal's first day at Puppy School! Welcome, puppy teachers! Do puppies get crackers? Puppies get tiny puppy treats. How long does a puppy take to learn? Puppies learn a little at a time. Like dance class! Wonder time! My wonder question: how do puppies learn? Rule one: stay calm and use soft voices. Rule two: one treat at a time, from a flat hand. Flat hand. Got it! Rule three: ask the owner before you pet a dog. Petal's owner is me. You can ask me! May I pet Petal? Petal howled! Like a wolf! Long, long ago, dogs' great-great-grandparents were wolves. That is why dogs howl and tilt their heads. I can tilt, too! Ah-woo! Dogs are wolf cousins! That's beautiful AND brilliant! Now let's look closer. How do dogs talk? A wagging tail and soft ears say, I'm friendly. A tucked tail says, I'm scared. Try-It test! The body language game! I'll show a puppy feeling. You guess it! Happy puppy! Worried puppy. Let's give it space. Sleepy puppy! Dogs talk with ears, tails and posture. Look closely and listen. Now, a Bloom Song! Woof-woof… WOW! Ask first! Sniff, sniff! Then pet, pet, pet! Wag, wag, wag, sit and stay, Ask, sniff, then pet, hooray! Hold out a hand and say hello, Let the puppy sniff it slow! That's right! Who do we ask? The owner! What do we do? Sniff, then pet! Petal says hi to new people. What's the safe way? First, ask the owner if you can say hi. Then, let the dog sniff your hand. If it feels friendly, pet gently. Ask, sniff, pet! May I say hi to Petal? Soft pats. Slow pats. Good job! Ask, sniff, then pet. That is how we stay safe and kind. Always ask the owner first. Brilliant! Uh-oh. Stay calm, everyone. Puppies learn by practice. Try, try again, and a treat for good tries. When the puppy sits, we say good job and give a tiny treat. One try. Two tries. Three tries! Practice makes puppies brave. Be patient. Puppies learn a little at a time. Petal ran away! Let's chase her! Chasing makes puppies run faster. Let's try calm. Wonder it… draw it… figure it out! Calm voice. Treats. Sit. Petal! Petal, come! Sit! Come, Petal. Good puppy. Good sit! Good job! Best crackerless ending. Calm voices and practice bring a puppy home. Stay calm, and the puppy comes back. Brilliant! Welcome to the Puppy Graduation Party! One wag! Two wags! Three wags! Puppy hug! Counting wags: ten! Follow me! Sit, and wiggle! Wheee! Puppy party! Bravo, puppy teachers! Ooh, fact flash! A dog's nose has up to three hundred million smell sensors! Mine has six million! That's beautiful AND brilliant! Petal Recap! Help our flower bloom! Dogs have wolf… COUSINS!
